I've seen references to the Lamlash Splash but can't find any website directly to the event. Do you have any details??

Hi there  Smiley, you can send the event organiser a message here
I was considering asking him if he wanted to use this as a kind of "home" site for the Lamlash Splash.
Are you local to arran? have you done any other events like this before?

Other details of the event I can give you are:
Takes place from the jetty on Holy Isle 1.3miles across Lamlash Bay to the main pier, search for a map of the Isle of Arran and you will find lamlash bay towards the southend on the east coast.
Typical sea temperatures are around 13C out in the middle of the bay the waves can be quite big but they are wide apart so its not too bad laugh There also can the be the odd jelly fish left around at that time of year (20th September) but chances of being stung are quite slim.

Hi,
can you tell me what time the Lamlash Splash is scheduled for? And the Friday 'practice swim'? I've done the Forth Swim a couple of times - same distance 1.3 miles from South to North Queensferry and I fancy a change of scenery. But it's got to fit with the ferry times from the mainland after a working day on Friday 19th.....

Hi, I was also hoping for more information about the lamlash splash, ie what safety cover is there if any, time, wet suits yes or no....

But now I hear there is also a Forth event. Was this an organised event??

Last year safety was provided by the yacht club. had their 2 ribs in the water, and just about 1 kayak per 2 people aswell, also the local life boat was out gaurding the swimmers from incoming boats.
Wetsuits+hi vis caps are mandatory! i'll try get a phone number but i have lost my entry sheet!

Well, despite my 3.4 mile detour I still managed to come second! Cheesy

Was a bit annoyed cos i felt like I was swimming very fast, but unfortunatley in the wrong direction! so the 30 minute barrier has yet to be broken...maybe next year  Cool
