Yes i am a swimmer. I am 50 years old and have been swimming since I was very young. My favourite stroke is front crawl. I used to be a competitive swimmer when I was in my teens and for many years worked as a pool attendant. I like to swim long distance at a steady pace. However, once a week I train with a masters club at my local health club. During these sessions I like to swim a lot faster than during my solo training sessions.

Hi,

I'm an open water swimmer, with the dubious speciality of winter swimming (a la Lewis Pugh) although the coldest water I've swum in bare-skin was a sub-tropical 4.8C (just over 40F).

I had the privilege of featuring on BBC1's Countryfile programme where I swam in just my Speedos in the River Mersey on St Valentine's Day, 12th Feb last.

This winter I may get the chance to first break the ice.

I was one of the founder members of RALSA (River and Lake Swimming association) and maintain the water temperature records.

Hi, I have just found this place after having swum for years and years!

My reason for looking for swim forums is that I am looking to get out of the British army soon and am looking at becoming a swimming teacher and coach as it has always been a love of mine and I have taught my 2 brothers, and my daughter to swim. I love being in the water, either in the pool or in the sea.
